Late last night, I stumbled onto this post and I had tears streaming down my face within moments. I've been writing here for just a few months and in that time, I discovered something unexpected. The beauty of the blogging community. I am so heartbroken for Jennifer and her family right now. But so thankful that she was wise enough to encourage us to reach out to those we love.
I woke up early to get to the store first thing this morning, before my husband left for work. The moment we finished breakfast, my boys and I were putting this pie together.
In Jennie's words:
For those asking what they can do to help my healing process, make a peanut butter pie this Friday and share it with someone you love. Then hug them like there's no tomorrow because today is the only guarantee we can count on.
Recipe can be found here.
If you do make a pie, and you’re on Twitter, the hashtag is #apieformikey. If you tag your post with that, Jennie will able to find them all someday.

Just lovely. I love that you made this with your sons. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're killing me! Another good dessert recipe?? How can I survive this? Looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteI responded to your eagle comment on my blog. Thanks for stopping in! :-)
What a sad story! My heart breaks for Jennie.
ReplyDeleteI read Jennie's post too; so absolutely heart breaking. Kudos for getting in on the Pie for Mikey.
ReplyDeleteGreat post...I too made this pie today...it is definitely one to be shared with the ones you love :)
ReplyDeleteThis is so heartbreaking - she's so young - I feel like I should never grumble again.
ReplyDeleteMary x
This was one of the saddest things I have read, and I can't imagine her pain. I ran downstairs and gave my husband the biggest hug I could give him.
ReplyDeleteI read Jennie's post yesterday too...so sad. Your peanut butter pie looks divine.
ReplyDeleteThis looks beautiful Mary.

I also learned about Jennie's post yesterday and thought a lot about life. Your peanut butter pie looks beautiful and you are so sweet you dedicated this post for Mikey.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had come across the Mikey post earlier, I think it is a wonderful way to remember someone and to spread the good feelings. I think it was very brave of Jenni. And your cake has done it proud. GG
