My name is Mary and I love white dishes, funky forks, used books, fresh vegetables and dark chocolate. I am the Food Writer, Blogger and Photographer here for Barefeet In The Kitchen. The bare feet in my kitchen belong to my three boys and me. We spend a lot of time in our kitchen; whether we are baking, cooking, learning or playing.
I love to cook real foods, as simply as possible. I prefer to use fresh ingredients and I cook from scratch the majority of the time. It is my hope to inspire others to cook more and eat better without spending all of their time in the kitchen.
I keep my ingredients basic and I typically cook using what is already in my home. For more information on the ingredients that I use, you can see what is in my pantry here. I meal plan and use my freezer as an extension of my pantry. If I can double a recipe and freeze a future meal, a snack, breads or a dessert for later, that makes me happy.
In the fall of 2011, one of my children developed a gluten sensitivity. In the time since, I have worked to convert and develop recipes for gluten free breads and sweets that taste as delicious as their traditional counterparts.
